This Weekend in Tango, July 18-21, 2013

We kick off the weekend with the second class of the Beginner series. Last week we learned how to walk on the beat and with a partner. In class, we will build on those skills and learn more about the embrace and movement. Don’t worry if you’ve missed the first class—just jump right in!

Now that Beginner classes have begun, the weekly Thursday práctica starts at 7:30 ($5). We had a great turnout last week and hope to see more people tonight!

There are two milongas for your dancing pleasure. Enjoy tango in a casual atmosphere at Triangle Tango’s Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye Café in Carrboro ($5). The FREE intro lesson starts at 8 PM and the milonga goes from 9:00-11:30 PM.

For a more elegant tango experience, go to Saturday night’s Milonga Carolina at Café Parizade in Durham ($10). This event is hosted by last week’s DJ, Thierry Olivry, and features a glass of wine and excellent dancing from 10:00 PM to 1:30 AM.

For more information about this weekend’s milongas, visit the Triangle Tango website.

As usual on Sundays, we rest up for our Intermediate and Advanced classes on Mondays. Intermediate students will continue with the check step and learn how to use it to change direction. Advanced students will use the super ochos they learned last week to set up the leader’s back sacada.

You may sign up for these events at our Meetup site. And don’t forget to like Tango Utopia on Facebook for the latest updates and photos!

See you on the dance floor!
