Workshop 4
Timing Freedom and Exquisite Co-Creating
Tango offers a unique freedom in the way we relate to time. Unlike dances based on a single fixed rhythm, tango music contains multiple rhythmic layers, textures, and voices. This richness gives dancers countless possibilities for choosing when and how to move.
In this workshop, we will begin with classical tango patterns and explore their polyrhythmic possibilities. From there, we will expand our understanding of timing—not as a set of rules, but as a creative field of interaction.
Through attentive listening and embodied awareness, we will discover how different timings can coexist within the partnership. By cultivating timing freedom, we open the door to exquisite co-creating: a dance in which both partners actively contribute to a shared musical and kinetic experience.
Rather than simply following predetermined patterns, we learn to listen, respond, and shape the dance together in real time, creating a richer and more expressive partnership.
