In July, Milonga Utopia will be SIZZLING HOT! And we are not talking about the summer temperatures in the good ole’ South.

Felipe has played music at most important festivals in the US (Portland, San Francisco, Baltimore, Denver, Washington DC, Atlanta, Fort Bragg, Austin, Houston) as well as in many other communities such as Providence, New York, Los Angeles, and Montreal. He DJs regularly in the Bay Area at The Beat (practica) and El Valenciano (traditional milonga) and has also played music in Europe (Spain, Germany, Istanbul) and Buenos Aires, where he was invited to play music at El Beso and Villa Malcolm Club in several ocasions. He was also invited to DJ in Asia at the Seoul Tango Festival (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), the Bali Tango Festival and the Taipei Tango Festival, as well as in Tainan, Taichung and Tokyo. Felipe’s musical selection is based on the classics that ensure a great atmosphere for dancing.

Summer is coming and what better way to celebrate it than with a fun milonga DJ’d by the talented and energetic A. Rojas and a performance with him and Jae!

But wait! That is not all! Utopia will also offer a class right before the milonga, from 8 to 9. Insightful teaching, delightful refreshments, a jovial atmosphere and lovely tandas will make this night unforgettable. So don’t miss it!

We are cancelling classes on Monday, May 30th due to Memorial Day holiday.

Classes will meet six times, June 6–July 18th (no class on July 4th).

We are excited to announce the return of Agustin Rojas from Argentina who will teach classes with Jae. Because Agustin will be in Durham for two months, we have decided to add an Intermediate/Advanced class on Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 pm before our weekly práctica, starting on June 2nd.

I am canceling the tonight’s class due to the weather. Please stay warm and safe. I will resume class next Monday. If you need practice, come to Thursday practica to get extra dancing in!

Tango Utopia invites you to our Milonga De Mis Amores, a special event to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Come with or without a partner, ready to absorb the romance and inspiringly dance the night away to the magical tunes of our very own DJ Cecil. Make the ambience more festive by wearing something red. It goes without saying that you will enjoy a delicious spread of goodies a la Utopia style to keep you dancing to the very end.

There will be no Utopia milonga in March, so make sure you make it to this one!
