Here are the tango events you can attend until our classes for Beginners and Intermediates resume on August 10th.

  • NEW! Saturday, July 25th (9pm – 2 am): Milonga Chamuyera @ 300 W. Hargett St, Suite 56, Raleigh, NC, $10
  • Saturday, August 1st (9pm – 1am): Triangle Tango’s First Saturday Milonga @ Arthur Murray Studios, Renaissance Center, 7001 Fayetteville Rd #135, Durham, NC ($10)
  • Every Sunday (4:00-6:00 pm): The Sunday Practica @ Triangle Dance Studios, Lindy Lab, $5
  • Every Sunday (8:30-10:30 pm): Milonga Scalza @ Celestine Studio, 300 W. Hargett St, Suite 56, Raleigh, NC

Remember, the Thursday practica will continue during summer break. We hope you continue to work on all the techniques we have learned.

We wanted to remind you that Tango Utopia is taking a summer break from July 13th – August 3rd. In the meantime, please attend the various upcoming tango events in the Triangle.

Summer Break from July. 13- Aug. 3rd

Hot summer is here, and Tango Utopia is taking a break from classes – July. 13th to August. 3rd. We’re coming back on August. 10th for new series of classes. We hope everybody has an amazing summer time and hope to see you all back in August.

Practica will be on during this time, don’t miss to practice your tango skills.

Register Now for Workshop with Tomás Howlin & Karen Jaffe

Registration for the weekend workshop with Tomás Howlin & Karen Jaffe is NOW open. The workshop is held on Friday, September 11 – Sunday, September 13, 2015. All classes and milongas take place at Triangle Dance Studios in Durham.

The Full Package (Friday through Sunday) includes 5 workshops and entry into 2 milongas ($130 per person; $230 per couple). The Weekend Package includes 4 workshops and the Saturday milonga ($110 per person; $200 per couple). Slots are limited, so sign up early.

Both milongas feature special guest DJs, including the maestro himself, Tomás, at Friday’s welcome milonga. If you need lodging for the weekend, please contact register@tangoutopia.com or visit our Facebook page.

Special Thursday Práctica – May 28th

This Thursday we welcome the maestros Alicia Pons & Luis Rojas back to the Triangle. Maestro Rojas will be our special guest DJ for the evening. Join us for the preview of what will be a wonderful workshop weekend.

New Series of Classes Begins June 1st

Our new series of classes for Beginners and Intermediates will start on Monday, June 1st. Classes are $10 per class/$50 for the series for individuals and $18 per class/$90 for the series for couples. There will be no class on Memorial Day. See our Classes page for more details.

Mother’s Day Milonga Utopia – May 9th

Join us for our May Milonga Utopia where we celebrate all the tango moms in our community. Our DJ for the evening will be the tango queen herself–Jae Grisham. We’ll have our usual assortment of delicious snacks and thirst-quenching refreshments, as well as our sparkling door prize!  We promise to have you home before they bring you breakfast in bed.

Change of plan – April Milonga Utopia April, 11th

Dear All,
Time to shake off those winter icicles and put a few tandas on your new shoes. Grish and Suni will once again be hosting the first Utopia milonga of Spring. This month the DJ will be our very own Katia Singletary, and she will bring all her fabulous tandas to the dance floor. As always, we’ll have plenty of munchies to keep our energy levels up, and everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite beverage to share with friends. And don’t forget, there will be a sparkling door prize for the lucky ticket holder.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the dance floor.
