No practica tonight – 2/26

Dear, All

So sorry to have to cancel our fun Thursday practica two weeks on a row. But even though we are tango warriors, we have to sit back and be safe when weather like this rears its ugly head.

Hopefully, we will have better and no more snow this weekend because we are having two more tango opportunity on Sunday March, 1st.

John’s Sunday guided practica from 3pm to 6pm at TDS Lindy lab.

Johnathan’s Sunday milonga from 7pm to 10pm at TDS Lindy lab.

And next weekend, we are having a special workshop (March, 6-8th) with Ney Melo and Jennifer Bratt from NYC sponsored by Triangle Tango!!!

It a great opportunity to take lessons from special guest teachers right here in our hometown. So please check out Triangletango.com for more details.

No Thursday practica tomorrow 2/19

The weather doesn’t seem to be friendly to tango. I do not want to see anyone get hurt driving to tango on these icy roads.

Triangle Tango is hosting workshop with Ney Melo & Jennifer Bratt: Bringing the Y to the NC.

Friday night at the Lindy Lab, Katia will DJ our Welcome Milonga with wine, chocolate, and cheese. And Saturday we have the fabulous new Arthur Murray Studio all weekend, and we’ll have sangría, Lita’s empanadas and the sweet, sweet tunes of DC’s best DJ Ramu Pyreddy to keep us dancing to the wee hours.

Fantastic energy – that sums up last Saturday night’s milonga. This would have not been possible without the gorgeous tandas created by our DJ Clint Rauchner, the presence of so many of our favorite out of town tangueros and our community coming together. Last night reminded us why we love this dance! Thank you all for making our Valentine’s Day milonga such a success!

Mark Your Calendars for the Valentine’s Day Milonga

February’s Milonga Utopia features special guest DJ Clint Rauscher of Atlanta. Clint will make us fall in love with his mesmerizing tandas and keep us dancing until 2 am. We will bring our usual assortment of delicious munchies and refreshments, a sparkling door prize, and of course, our famous Tango Utopia hospitality. Come out and show your love for tango!

Clint will also teach a workshop on Saturday afternoon, so stay tuned for more details!

This Weekend in Tango, December 31, 2014-January 4, 2015

Ring in the new year in Tango Utopia style! We’ve joined forces with Triangle Tango to host our third annual New Year’s Eve Milonga TONIGHT ($20). This year, we’ll celebrate at a NEW LOCATION–JL TaeKwonDo Academy on 4031 Davis Drive in Morrisvillle. Come at 8 pm to enjoy a scrumptious family-style dinner, and then, dance into the wee hours of morning of 2015. It will be cold outside but warm on our wooden tango floor as we move to the rhythmic melodies played by special guest DJ Angel Montero from Atlanta. Over 100 local and out-of-town guests will be there, so we’re sure to have a fabulous time.

If more fun and more tango are on your list of New Year’s resolutions, then start the year off right at Triangle Tango’s Brunch Milonga ($10). Jae will keep us dancing from 12-4 pm at the same location.

After back-to-back days of dancing, we’ll rest our feet until Monday’s classes. January 5th is the last class in the series for Beginners (7 pm) and Intermediates (8:30 pm). The new series of classes start on January 12th. You can sign up now on Meetup or simply show up then.

Of course, if you’re not too tired from dancing, you can always try the Sunday Práctica on January 4th from 3-6 pm hosted by John Singletary. This Weekend in Tango, December 24-28, 2014

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all we could do
Was write this little note from the Tango Utopia crew

We’ll spend Christmas Day with our families and friends
Then count down the hours ‘til we tango again

On Friday night at 7:30, we’ll dust off our shoes
And head down to TDS to practice our new moves

Monday’s classes will happen as they always do
We’ll learn new techniques and have lots of fun, too!

Beginners will learn how to walk to the cross in style
And Intermediates will dance rhythmic turns for miles

Our New Year’s Eve Milonga will have 100+ folks
Dancing and hungry for Brunch the next day, we hope

If you need to RSVP, please do so quick
So we can save you a tanda with Jolly St. Nick

We hope you don’t mind if we cut this note short
We’ve got presents to wrap and a few to be bought

But we want to shout and exclaim with delight—

This Weekend in Tango, December 18-21, 2014

Start your tango weekend off right with TONIGHT’S weekly práctica from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm ($5). We’ll have music from our special guest DJ Tim Hall–a former member of the Triangle community who now lives in Austin, TX. Come out to work on all those techniques we learned in class.

Tomorrow Triangle Tango hosts its Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye Café in Carrboro ($5). The FREE introductory lesson starts at 8 pm, followed by dancing from 9-11:30 pm. The multi-talented Cecil Ho will teach the class, be your DJ, and greet you with his winning smile.

On Monday we continue with our classes for Beginners at 7 pm and Intermediates at 8:30 pm. As always, drop-ins are always welcome ($10 per class).

Also be sure to RSVP for our New Year’s Eve Milonga ($20 including dinner and a champagne toast) and Triangle Tango’s Brunch Milonga on New Year’s Day ($10). The NYE milonga features Atlanta DJ Angel Montero and the Brunch Milonga will feature our favorite teacher and DJ–Jae! Both events will be held at JL TaeKwonDo Academy in Morrisville.
