Our favorite weekend in tango is here! On Saturday we host a Farewell Milonga for Jason Laughlin, who will be moving to Austin, TX. Many members of our community, including the Tango Utopia ladies, first learned to dance tango in Jason’s Tuesday and Wednesday night classes. Join us on the 13th as we send him off in Tango Utopia style.

Of course, we’d love to see you at TONIGHT’s weekly practica ($5) as we work on the techniques we learned in class.

Monday we continue with our classes for Beginners at 7 pm and Intermediates at 8:30 pm. Also, don’t forget about the FREE practica from 8-8:30 pm. It’s the third week of the series and drop-ins are always welcome.

Lastly, it’s not too early to RSVP to the New Year’s Eve Milonga ($20). We’ve got over 80 people who plan to attend and an amazing menu in store. We hope you can join us.

This Weekend in Tango, December 4-7, 2014

There are no milongas this weekend in the Triangle, so get your tango fix at TONIGHT’S practica. We started our new series of classes, so there’s plenty of material to work on.

Speaking of new classes, it’s not too late to join us on Monday nights. The Beginners class starts at 7 pm and the Intermediate class starts at 8:30 pm. There is a FREE practica from 8:00-8:30 pm. Drop-ins are always welcome.

Also, if you plan to be in town for New Year’s, joins us for our third annual New Year’s Eve Milonga. For $20 you get a full family-style homemade dinner, wine, a champagne toast, and 7+ hours of dancing. RSVP today to reserve your spot!

New Years Eve Milonga

Tango Utopia will once again be teaming up with Triangle Tango to present our third annual New Years Eve milonga! So mark your calendars and be ready to enjoy full family style homemade dinner complete with wine and champagne toast at midnight. And of course 7 + hours of wonderful dancing! This year we are very excited to have our special guest DJ Angel Montero from Atlanta who has been DJing numerous festivals across the country!  So don’t miss this chance. And don’t forget our tradition of variety of door prizes and fun activities. This year we will be at a new venue (Mitch Lee’s studio) which promise to have a larger dancing space with David’s wooden floor and plenty of parking. Price for the event is unbelievably reasonable $20 per person. Please join and celebrate with us for ringing in the new year Tango Utopia style!

This Weekend in Tango, November 26-30, 2014

We hope that you have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving day with your family and loved ones. There will be no practica tomorrow, but we invite you to join us for the milonga at Brandywine Cellars on Friday, November 28th from 9 pm to 1 am. The $10 price gets you in the door, a glass of wine, and 4 hours to dance off those Thanksgiving calories.

On Monday, December 2nd, we start the new series of classes for Beginners (7 pm) and Intermediates (8:30 pm). Each series lasts for 6 weeks (though January 5, 2015), but feel free to drop-in at any time. You may also attend the FREE practica from 8-8:30 pm. All classes take place at Triangle Dance Studios (2603 S. Miami Blvd., Durham, NC 27703). Directions can be found here­.

This Weekend in Tango, November 20-23, 2014

It’s been cold out, so why don’t you warm yourself up at tonight’s practica at 7:30 pm ($5). We’ve learned a lot of new techniques over the past five weeks and now is your chance to perfect them.

Tomorrow (11/21) is Triangle Tango’s Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye in Carrboro ($5). This event features a FREE introductory lesson at 8 pm, followed by dancing from 9-11:30 pm. For more information, visit their website.

On Monday, we wrap up this series of classes for Beginners  (7 pm) and Intermediates (8:30 pm). We enjoyed seeing your progress and hope you continue with us. The next 6-week series starts on December 1st, so sign up now.

This Weekend in Tango, November 6-9, 2014

The November Milonga Utopia on Saturday has been canceled to honor the memory of Roberto Restucha. He was an influential member of the tango community whose smile and presence will be greatly missed.

TONIGHT we will have práctica ($5) at the usual time and place so we can continue to work on the techniques we learned in this week.

We look forward to seeing you in class on Monday–Beginners (7 pm) and Intermediates (8:30 pm)—or at the FREE práctica from 8-8:30 pm.

Milonga Utopia Canceled to Honor the Memory of Roberto Restucha

Tango Utopia is saddened by the news of the passing of Roberto Restucha, a beloved member of the Triangle community. In honor of his life and contributions to tango, we are canceling Saturday’s milonga. Please join us in expressing support and prayers for the Restucha family during this difficult time.

This Weekend in Tango, October 30-November 2, 2014

We start our weekend in our usual fashion with the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). We are back in the upstairs studio so join to work on those techniques we learned in class on Monday.

Saturday night is Triangle Tango’s Post Apocalyptic Milonga ($10) in a NEW LOCATION–JL Taekwondo Academy on 4031 Davis Drive in Morrisville. The event features a special guest DJ Rodrigo Charrua and the usual dancing from 9PM to 1 AM. Visit their website for more information.

This Weekend in Tango, October 23-26, 2014

Join us in Studio 5 (Lindy Lab) for TONIGHT ‘s weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5) to refresh your memory on the techniques we learned last week.

Tomorrow (10/24), enjoy the another milonga at Brandywine Cellars from 9 PM to 1 AM ($10). Cecil Ho will be your DJ for the evening, bringing his special mix of music to keep us dancing all night. Come early and enjoy the wine tasting from 6 – 8 PM.

Classes for Beginners (7:00 PM) and Intermediates (8:30 PM) resume on Monday, October 27th. It’s only the second class, so feel free to jump right in.
