This Weekend in Tango, October 16-19, 2014

NEW LOCATION FOR PRACTICA TONIGHT! Due to studio renovations, the weekly práctica will be held in STUDIO 4 at 7:30 PM ($5). This studio is located around the corner from the back studio and the Lindy Lab. We hope to see you as we continue to work on those new techniques we learned on Monday.

Tomorrow is Triangle Tango’s Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye ($5). The FREE lesson starts at 8 PM, and the dancing goes from 9-11:30 PM. Local legend Jason Laughlin will be your teacher and DJ for the evening. For more information, visit their website.

REMEMBER THERE ARE NO CLASSES ON MONDAY DUE TO STUDIO RENOVATIONS. Classes will resume on the 27th.

New Series of Classes Start on Monday, October 13th

Our new 6-week series of classes start on Monday, October 13th.

Beginners meet at 7-8 pm and learn the basics of tango such as posture, embrace, body awareness, pivots, connection, and parallel and cross system. This class is ideal for individuals who are new to this dance and for individuals who wish to refresh their tango technique.

Intermediates meet at 8:30-9:30 pm and concentrate on developing techniques like core strength, extension, balance, open and close embrace, and connection. This class is for individuals who have some tango experience and for intermediates and advanced dancers seeking to refine their technique.

Pricing
Individuals: $10 per class; $50 for the 6-week series
Couples: $18 per class; $90 for the 6-week series

There is also a FREE práctica between classes from 8:00-8:30 pm.

NOTE: No classes on 10/20 due to studio renovations.

This Weekend in Tango, October 9-12, 2014

Our favorite weekend is here! On Saturday, October 11th, we host Milonga Utopia with guest DJ Daniel Arredondo of Passion for Tango ($10). He’s sure to bring the Charlotte crowd with him, so come ready to dance.

TONIGHT’S weekly práctica ($5) at Triangle Dance Studios is the place to prepare for Saturday’s milonga and fine tune the techniques we’ve learned in class.

On Monday, October 13th, we start a new series of classes for Beginners (7 pm) and Intermediates (8:30 pm). Classes are $10 per week or $50 for the 6-week series. We also have special pricing for couples, though no partner is necessary. All classes take place in the upstairs studio at Triangle Dance Studios. We’d love to see some new and some familiar faces, so plan on joining us.

This Weekend in Tango, October 2-5, 2014

There are NO Advanced classes this month, so we’ll kick off the weekend with the Thursday práctica at 7:30 ($5).

On Saturday October 4th, Triangle Tango hosts its First Saturday Milonga in Studio 5 (Lindy Lab) from 9 pm to 1 am ($10). Eduardo Lazarowski will give a special presentation of the History of Tango at 8pm. For more information, visit their website.

On Monday, we conclude our 6-week series of classes for Beginners at 7 pm and Intermediates at 8:30 pm. You’ve made great progress so we hope you continue with us for the next round of classes. And don’t forget about the FREE práctica on Mondays from 8-8:30 pm.

This Weekend in Tango, September 25-28, 2014

The last class in this month’s Advanced class  begins tonight at 6:30 PM, followed by the weekly práctica from 7:30-10:00 ($5). There are no milongas this weekend, so stop by TONIGHT to get your tango fix.

On Monday, we continue with our Beginners class at 7 PM. In the Intermediates class at 8:30 PM, we will continue working with those moves from the Oscar Casas workshop. We’ve got a few more classes and have enjoyed seeing your progress thus far.

This Weekend in Tango, September 18-21, 2014

Get ready for another tango-filled weekend in the Triangle!

TONIGHT we have the Advanced class at 6:30 PM, followed by the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). It’s a great opportunity to work on the techniques we learned at last weekend’s workshops with Oscar Casas.

Then on Saturday, take your tango outside! Join Triangle Tango for another Outdoor Milonga in downtown Raleigh in front of the Meymandi Concert Hall from 3-6 PM. Jae will grace the DJ table once again. This event is our favorite price–FREE!

We continue with classes for Beginners (7 PM) and Intermediates (8:30 PM) on Monday.

This Weekend in Tango, September 11-14, 2014

This weekend is our favorite weekend in tango. Tango Utopia is excited to be a part of the Oscar Casas Workshop Weekend hosted by Durham Tango. Saturday’s Milonga Utopia will feature our usual hospitality, Jae at the DJ table, and of course, the maestro himself will be on the floor ($10; $8 for Tango Utopia student).

TONIGHT is the second class for Advanced students at 6:30 PM, followed by the weekly practica at 7:30 PM ($5).

After we rest up from the workshops this weekend, we will see you in class on Monday: Beginners at 7 PM and Intermediates at 8:30 PM.

Tonight, we start September with the new series of Advanced classes at 6:30 pm ($15).This month’s is “Cecil’s Choice,” where Cecil will pick a tango topic based on class size and gender balance. Advanced students get FREE admission to the weekly Thursday prácticaat 7:30 ($5).

This Weekend in Tango, August 28-31, 2014

It’s a quiet weekend in tango. We’ll have the last Advanced class on Boleos and Beyond at 6:30 PM. Then join us at the weekly práctica TONIGHT at 7:30 PM ($5) before you head out of town.

NO CLASSES for Beginners and Intermediates this Monday. We’ll give you a break for Labor Day holiday and resume on Monday, September 8th.

The Sunday práctica is a go–a good choice if you’re staying in town.
