TONIGHT is the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). We encourage everyone come out to work on their tango techniques.

Tomorrow (7/25), enjoy Triangle Tango’s Milonga at Brandywine Cellars Milonga ($10) in Durham. Our favorite guest teacher Cecil Ho will teach the FREE intro to tango lesson at 8 PM and DJ the milonga from 9 PM to 1 AM. The cost includes a glass of wine. On Monday, we continue our classes for Beginners (7:00 PM) and Intermediates (8:30 PM). We love your energy so keep coming out!

This Weekend in Tango, July 17-20, 2014

TONIGHT is the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). We encourage everyone come out to work on their tango techniques.

Tomorrow (7/18), enjoy Triangle Tango’s Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye Café in Carrboro ($5). Jae will teach the FREE introductory tango lesson at 8 PM and DJ the milonga from 9 PM to 11:30 PM. For more information, visit the Triangle Tango website.

Midsummer Night’s Dream Milonga – A Success!

MSND MilongaThanks for your overwhelming turnout for our July Milonga Utopia. We had almost 80 guests in attendance, including out-of-towners from all over the Southeast (Asheville, Atlanta, Augusta, Charlotte, South Carolina, and Wilmington). The Tango Utopia ladies decorated the studio courtesy of the Paper Hand Puppet Intervention and everyone dressed in their whimsical fairy best–some guests even brought their wings. Once again, DJ Lisa Jacobs of Catwalk Tango cast her musical magic spell, which kept us floating across the dance floor well past 2 AM. It was truly an enchanting evening. We’ve posted a few photos to the Meetup event page, so please feel free to tag yourself in them. More photos can be found on the Tango Utopia Facebook page.

We’d also like to remind you that the new six-week series of classes for Beginners (7PM) and Intermediate students (8:30 PM) starts tomorrow (7/14). Feel free to sign up at our Meetup site or join us in the upstairs studio at Triangle Dance Studio. There are no Advanced classes in July, so we encourage students to attend Monday classes and/or come to the FREE Monday práctica between 8:00 and 8:30 PM.

Once again, thanks to everyone who made last night’s event one of the best milongas in the Triangle. We couldn’t do it without your support.

This Weekend in Tango, July 10-13, 2014

Our favorite weekend in tango is FINALLY here! On Saturday, July 12th we host our themed Milonga Utopia, ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream‘, which promises to be a magical evening ($10). Special guest DJ Lisa Jacobs of Asheville’s Catwalk Tango will keep us floating across the floor as we dance under the full-moon supermoon. We hope you dress in your fairy best!

On Monday, July 14th we start a new series of classes for Beginners (7 PM). Students from the last series made great progress, so we encourage you continue with us. Intermediates students (8:30 PM) also start on Monday with a new class topic, How to Move When You Can’t Move, where we will explore how to keep your follower happy when there’s traffic on the floor. And don’t forget about the FREE práctica in between these classes. There are no Advanced classes in July, so students are encouraged to attend Beginner or Intermediate classes to keep their skills in top shape.

As usual, TONIGHT is the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). Come out to work on those new techniques we learned in class.

This Weekend in Tango, July 3-6, 2014

No need to rush to the beach with Arthur swirling in the Atlantic. Take shelter at TONIGHT’s weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). Once again the práctica is the only opportunity to tango in the Triangle this weekend, so stop by before you head out of town.

If you’re up to taking your tango on the road, follow the Tango Utopia ladies down to Atlanta on Saturday, July 5th for Milonga Porteña at Daza Dance (3230 Peachtree Road, NE), where Jae will be your DJ for the evening. There’s also a milonga at Taverna Plaka in Atlanta (2196 Cheshire Bridge Rd, NE) on Sunday evening for those who have Monday off or don’t mind getting by on limited sleep. 😉 Visit these events on Facebook for more information.

We promise to be rested and ready to go for the Beginner (7 PM) and Intermediate (8:30 PM) classes on Monday night. We are so pleased with the consistent turnout for these classes and look forward to seeing all of your wonderful faces in the next series. The Advanced class is on hiatus this month, but students are welcome join the Monday night classes to keep their tango skills tuned up during the summer.

Remember next weekend’s Milonga Utopia on July 12thwill end our drought. The theme for the evening is A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the event will feature the whimsical melodies of DJ Lisa Jacobs of Asheville. Dress your fairy best!

TONIGHT is your only opportunity to dance tango this weekend at the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). The Advanced class will be all warmed up and ready to go after working on their milonga techniques at 6:30 PM.

Looking ahead, we are super excited to welcome back DJ Lisa Jacobs of Catwalk Tango in Asheville for our July 12th Milonga Utopia. We’re calling it A Midsummer Night’s Dream to match those dreamy tandas that will surely leave us all enchanted.

On Monday, we continue the series for Beginners at 7 PM and Intermediates at 8:30 PM. The new series of classes begin on July 14th.

This Weekend in Tango, June 19-22, 2014

TONIGHT we continue with milonga in the Advanced class at 6:30 PM followed by theweekly práctica at 7:30 ($5).

Friday night enjoy a spot or tea or glass of wine at the Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye in Carrboro ($5). As always the evening features  free intro lesson at 8 PM and dancing from 9-11:30 PM. For more details, check the Triangle Tango website.

If you’re up to taking your tango on the road, Jae will be DJing at Milonga Maleva in Charlotte on Saturday, June 21st at Metropolitan Ballroom. We’d love to see you there!

This Weekend in Tango, June 12-15, 2014

This weekend we host a Special Milonga Utopia on Saturday, June 14th from 9 PM to 2 AM ($10) to send off our dear tango friend, Saule Omarova. DJ Grish will play his special mix of tandas for Saule before she moves to Ithaca, NY. We will have our usual yummy munchies and sparkling door prize, too. Join us as we say so long to our dear friend in Tango Utopia style.

TONIGHT is the second class in the series for Advanced students at 6:30 PM­ (milonga!), followed by the ­weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5). On Monday, we continue our classes for ­Beginners (7:00 PM) and ­Intermediates (8:30 PM). It’s not too late to join us!

Thank you so much for coming out to support the weekend workshop with Nick Jones and Diana Cruz!  It was an overwhelming success.

TONIGHT is the first class in the series for Advanced students at 6:30 PM (milonga!), followed by the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5).
