NO CLASSES ON MONDAY 9/1. ENJOY YOUR LABOR DAY WEEKEND!

Classes resume on Monday, September 8th. Beginners start at 7 PM and the Intermediates start at 8:30 PM. It’s only the second class in each series, so feel free to join in.

You’re welcome to join us at the FREE práctica from 8-8:30 PM in between classes.

This Weekend in Tango, August 28-31, 2014

It’s a quiet weekend in tango. We’ll have the last Advanced class on Boleos and Beyond at 6:30 PM. Then join us at the weekly práctica TONIGHT at 7:30 PM ($5) before you head out of town.

NO CLASSES for Beginners and Intermediates this Monday. We’ll give you a break for Labor Day holiday and resume on Monday, September 8th.

The Sunday práctica is a go–a good choice if you’re staying in town.

Tango Classes Start on Monday, August 25th

If you’re new to tango or new to the area, consider joining us on Monday evenings starting on August 25th for Beginners (7 PM) or Intermediates (8:30 PM) classes. Each class series last six weeks and focuses on key techniques such as posture, embrace, body awareness, and connection.

  • Beginners will learn the basic tango steps and how to walk in parallel and cross systems.
  • This month, Intermediate students will learn calecitas (the carousel) and work toward creating off-axis moves like the volcada.

We also have a FREE práctica (practice session) between classes from 8-8:30 PM. Feel free to drop-in or sign up for the six-week series.

Cost
Individuals: $10 per class; $50 for the series
Couples: $18 per class; $90 for the series

This Weekend in Tango, August 21-24, 2014

Fill your weekend with tango!

TONIGHT we continue the Advanced class Boleos and Beyond at 6:30 PM. We also encourage everyone to join us at the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5) to work on the techniques we learned in class this week. We start the new series of classes for Beginners (7:00 PM) and Intermediates (8:30 PM) on Monday, August 25th. For information on pricing, please visit the Tango Utopia Meetup or our website.

Tomorrow (8/22), enjoy the another milonga at Brandywine Cellars from 9 PM to 1 AM ($10). Jae will be your DJ for the evening, bringing some traditional tunes with a mix of alternative sounds. Come early and enjoy the special Argentine wine tasting from 6 – 8 PM.

And don’t forget about the weekly guided Sunday practica hosted by John Singletary in the Lindy Lab.

This Weekend in Tango, August 14-17, 2014

TONIGHT start your weekend on the good foot by coming to the Advanced class Boleos and Beyond at 6:30 PM. We encourage everyone to join us at the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5) to work on the techniques we learned in class this week (ochos and dynamic turns).

Tomorrow (8/15), enjoy Triangle Tango’s Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye Café in Carrboro ($5) from 9-11:30 PM. Our lovely Tango Utopia lady Tania Meek will host and Daniel Bossut will DJ and teach the FREE introductory class at 8 PM. For more information, visit the Triangle Tango website.

This Weekend in Tango, August 7-10, 2014

The second Saturday of the month is our favorite weekend in tango because we host Milonga Utopia on 8/9 from 9 PM to ($10). Join us as we seek refuge from the heat while listening to the soothing melodies of DJ Eduardo Lazarowski of Durham Tango. As usual, we will bring a delicious assortment of munchies, refreshments, the sparkling door prize and our Tango Utopia hospitality.

The Advanced class resumes TONIGHT at 6:30 PM. This month, Jae and Cecil will teach us how to go beyond the boleo. All students are encouraged to attend the weekly práctica at 7:30 PM ($5) to work on those new techniques we learned in class.

On Monday, we continue classes for Beginners (7 PM) and Intermediates (8:30 PM). We learned a lot last week, so keep up the good work.

And don’t forget about the guided Sunday práctica hosted by John Singletary from 3-5 in Studio 5 (Lindy Lab).

Advanced Classes Start August 7th

The Advanced Class is back from its July hiatus! This month’s topic will focus on going beyond the basic boleo technique. Guest teacher, Cecil Ho, will join Jae for this series. Students are encouraged to stay for the weekly práctica from 7:30 to 10:00 PM. Visit our Classes page for more details.
