We’re sending out the weekly notice one day early due to the Thanksgiving holiday. THERE WILL BE NO BEGINNER CLASS OR PRACTICA TOMORROW. We hope you enjoy this holiday with your family and friends.
Intermediate and Advanced Classes resume on Monday, December 2nd and the Beginner class continues on Thursday, December 5th.
Stay safe and dry this holiday!
TONIGHT’S weekly práctica is the only opportunity to tango this weekend ($5), so come and join us as we work on the techniques we learned in class. The práctica starts at 7:30 PM immediately after the Beginner class (6:30 PM). Guest teacher, Cecil Ho, will be standing in for Jae tonight. It is the third class of the series, so it’s not too late to join.
We’ll use this quiet weekend to rest up for Monday’s classes where Intermediate students learn “Elements of the Cross” and Advanced students work on “The Art of the Secret Lead.”
See you on the dance floor!
You can get your fill of tango this weekend, starting with TONIGHT’S Beginner class at 6:30 PM ($10). It is only the second class of the eight-week series, so feel free to come if you missed last week. The Thursday night practica starts immediately after class for dancers of all levels to work on what we learned this week.
Tomorrow (11/14) is the monthly Third Friday Milonga at Open Eye Cafe ($5). This event features a FREE lesson at 8 PM, followed by a casual milonga from 9-11:30 PM. For more details, please visit the Triangle Tango website.
Saturday night (11/15) is a special tango lesson and milonga at Sarah B. Duke Gardens ($12 at the door). This venue is known for its elegant surroundings and gorgeous wood floors. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit the Duke Gardens event page.
As always on Sunday, we rest up for Monday’s classes: The Elements of the Cross for Intermediate students ($10) and The Art of the Secret Lead for Advanced students ($15). Drop-ins are welcome! And don’t forget about Tango Utopia’s FREE Monday night practica from 8:00-8:30 PM between classes.
See you on the dance floor!
The second weekend is our favorite weekend in tango because we host Milonga Utopia on Saturday, November 9th in the TDS back studio from 9 PM to 2 PM ($10). We are proud to have Triangle Tango President Eduardo Lazarowski as our DJ for the evening. His classic mix of music will transport you back to the streets of Buenos Aires. And of course, we’ll have the usual munchies, refreshments, and sparkling door prize to greet you. This milonga is known for its hospitality and friendly atmosphere so we hope you’ll join us.
To get a head start on the weekend, come to the FIRST CLASS of the new Beginners series TONIGHT at the TDS upstairs studio at 6:30 PM ($10). The class will focus on the basics, starting with the tango walk. As the series progresses, new students will learn how to walk with a partner in parallel and cross system as well as lead and follow pivots, ochos, and cruzadas (crossing steps). After the class we invite all newcomers and tango veterans to stay for the WEEKLY THURSDAY PRÁCTICA, starting at 7:30 PM ($5).
Speaking of veterans, Monday is Veteran’s Day and we WILL have our regularly scheduled classes. Intermediate students will continue working with Jae on The Elements of the Cross and guest teacher John Singletary will work with Advanced students on The Art of the Secret Lead, focusing on follower’s technique.
